For the past several weeks, I’ve been struggling with writing a literary work about Black flight to submit to an online anthology, the Root Work Journal, with a December 31, 2021 deadline.

I’ve written down some answers to journaling prompts regarding the subject including, but not limited to, the following items:

· In what ways does your Black art/work focus on transcendence?

· What does Black flight mean to you? What does it mean to fly from the proverbial and/or the literal plantation?

· If the people could fly …. Finish the sentence. What possibilities could/do exist? Imaginatively take us there.

While I’ve come up with some great responses, I’m not any closer to achieving my goal of finishing this literary work. I’m struggling to not allow frustration to get the best of me because I can do this. I know I got this!

It shouldn’t be hard for me to write since I’m a writer, but I have my moments of doubt. Perhaps it’s because I can be my harshest critic? Or maybe I’m like Erykah Badu and very sensitive about my shit when it…
