My TO DON’T List
Nonnegotiable items to preserve my well-being
Have you ever heard of a To Don’t List?
I hadn’t until I recently read Glorious Raine’s story, “To DON’T List.” In it, the author created a list of things she intentionally avoids to protect her mental health.
I’ve written plenty of To-Do Lists: tasks for work, monthly writing goals, and errands to run; however, I never wrote a To Don’t List.
So, what are the things I don’t want to do anymore?
Here’s what’s currently on my To Don’t List:
· Don’t let your current challenges define your future.
· Don’t think you’re too old to achieve your goals.
· Don’t let anger make you feel depressed.
· Don’t bring stress from work into your home.
· Don’t let imposter syndrome make you doubt your creativity.
· Don’t compromise your values and beliefs for anyone, not even family.
· Don’t forget to reach out to your loved ones more often.
· Don’t catastrophize about worst-case scenarios.
