It’s been almost a year since I last read Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way.

I contemplated doing so at the beginning of the year but opted to participate in NaJoWriMo instead. That turned out to be a mistake since I abandoned my efforts for the 31-day challenge.

If I decide to re-read The Artist’s Way, the reader will be required to engage in a morning writing routine of jotting down their thoughts and feelings on three pages in longhand for twelve weeks. Doubt is appearing inside my thoughts whether I’ll abandon this task like I’ve done when I don’t feel challenged in literary events like NaJoWriMo or NaNoWriMo.

There were some creative exercises inside Julia Cameron’s excellent book I enjoyed completing like taking myself on an artist date or identifying a list of things such as your major activities or people who nurture your creativity. One task I enjoyed was creating an artist prayer where the reader writes a letter to his or her Creator. This was one of my favorites because I’m a firm believer that creativity is an amazing gift that our Higher Power bestows upon us human beings to employ our talents to make something from nothing that can make a positive impact in many lives, including self. It also gives honor and praise to our Creator by giving our best efforts…
