This story is in response to Susie Pinon’s story of 30 Writing Prompts for Every Type of Writer about using writing prompts to stimulate creativity answering the following question:

What is the most valuable thing you own?

Of all the possessions I own, my journal collection is my most valuable assets.

They may not have monetary worth to the world, but they are priceless in my eyes.

They contain my thoughts, feelings, ideas, and memories. They are my history.

Journaling has been the primary coping skill I’ve employed throughout my adult life. It’s helped me navigate through some rough experiences that I didn’t think I would overcome while acknowledging the triumphs.

My journals were and have been by my side when I plotted ideas and bullet points for poems, essays, characters, short stories, and novels. They chronicled the progress I made during an exercise session, giving me motivation for my next workout. Some entries are…
