Give It All You Got
Pushing through challenges and NaJoWriMo thoughts.
January has always been a challenging month for me during my adult life.
I don’t know what it is about these 31 days, but I’ve always experienced a rough patch during this time. Several years ago, I contracted the flu, which developed into full-blown bronchitis. Another year, I tore a ligament in my left wrist after a weightlifting accident exercising at the gym. Work has always been busy and can be quite overwhelming at my current job as an EAP Specialist where callers are seeking authorization codes so they can use their EAP Benefits to access counseling for the new year. Depression usually kicks in from a combination of work stress and cold weather but fortunately that hasn’t been the case now. In 2022, I had some unexpected expenses emerge this week I didn’t factor into my budget that hit my finances real hard until I bounced back after my first paycheck was deposited into my checking account.
Sometimes I wish I can fast forward my life right through until spring. Since that’s not possible and I’d miss out on acknowledging my loved ones’ birthdays, I’ll just have to get through this period the best I can. I’m grateful for having coping skills to help me get through this moment like positive self-talk, exercise, reading, music listening, meditating, and journaling…
