Five Life Lessons I Learned from An Acupuncture Treatment
Acupuncture is the new black of my wellness toolbox!
I’ve always been fascinated by this ancient Chinese practice, but never tried it before until I experienced pain inside my lower back pain while heading to the gym to exercise one Sunday morning. Initially, I thought it was due to me sleeping one too many times on my sofa, but the agony became more unbearable. For three days I lacked the mobility to do ordinary tasks like getting dressed, sitting down on a sofa or lying down and be still without feeling discomfort.
I wound out going to a nearby Urgent Care to get medical treatment after leaving work early since it was too painful for me to sit down. Prior to my examination, I scheduled my first appointment at the West Philly Community Acupuncture later that afternoon. Unfortunately, I discovered my lower back pain was the wicked combination of a muscle spasm with a herniated disk. Ouch! I was advised by the attending physician to take medication and rest for the next few days. While waiting for my prescription to be filled at my local pharmacy, I contemplated whether I should cancel my afternoon acupuncture appointment, but I decided to attend out of desperation to add anything that would help me make a full recovery.
