Commit to Plan A or Don’t Even Bother!
Stick with and focus on accomplishing your long-term goal.
I finished watching several videos and speech excerpts featuring one of my heroes, Christopher Gardner, author of The Pursuit of Happyness, after watching the Motiversity Shorts video featured above on YouTube. He doesn’t mince any words in this brief clip and gets right to the point by letting the interviewer know that Plan B sucks when it comes to chasing after your dreams, citing individuals like Michael Jordan and Oprah Winfrey as examples who achieved theirs without having another strategy in case things don’t work out in the long run.
And Mr. Gardner is right because Plan B not only sucks, but it’s a distraction. By not committing to Plan A and telling yourself that if you don’t succeed this time, there are always 25 other letters in the English alphabet. Wrong! This type of thinking has set me up for sabotage by not focusing all my efforts to pursuing and accomplishing my long-term goal of becoming the best writer I can be. I’ve always had additional ideas inside my mind if things didn’t work out, which has delayed my progress towards putting in the necessary work to attain my objective. Not anymore.
Right now, I’m rededicated my focus and attention on my Plan A. There’s no room for any backup goals going forward. It’s now or never if I want to manifest my dream into reality.
