Does the thought of attempting to do something new and challenging that requires you to step outside of your comfort zone excites or frightens you?

There have been times where I felt one or both emotions regarding some of my goals. In my Medium story, 10 Things You Don’t Know About Me, I listed the following items I want to achieve:

I want to own an independent bookstore.

I want to write a speculative fiction and/or vampire novel.

I want to become a life coach and motivational speaker.

All these ideas sound and look wonderful on paper, but when it comes to taking the first step to put in the necessary work to fulfill my dreams, I freeze. Negative thoughts appear inside my mind that question my sanity that could derail my aspirations.

What if I’m too old to own and operate my literary café?

What do I know about writing speculative fiction and/or horror?

Do I have enough ideas and/or enthusiasm to motivate and inspire others?

It’s alright and necessary to acknowledge your present fears and concerns, but they don’t have to define a person’s future.
