Be Confident and Do the Write Thing!
Doubt always has a funny way of appearing inside my thoughts whenever I’m working towards achieving my lifetime goal of becoming a successful writer whose literary works are making positive impacts through my words.
Lately, it’s been the nagging voice that’s been whispering to my spirit “You’re not good enough, Bill!” when I allow external factors like a stressful day at work or financial setbacks to disturb my mood. Sometimes it tells me that it’s too late for me to pursue this aspiration because I should be preparing for retirement now that I’m over 50.
Anyone trying to pursue their heart’s desires will experience moments when he or she has doubts, including me. I do have the power to listen to mine, but I also possess the ability to ignore them. This wasn’t an easy feat to master, especially for someone who has a perfectionist mentality and can be his harshest critic. I can be my greatest advocate who envisions himself becoming the best writer he can be. Here are some things that have assisted me along this empowering journey.
